How to use google site search option to find desired results from abcaus website. Search key word verbatim, exclude a word or search within a time range
Using google to search within a website is often helpful in getting the specific piece of content. However, many seem to be unaware of this “site search” feature of the google search engine.
The following steps shows how a website say abcaus.in can be used for fetching all the desired results using site search option.
1. Go to https://www.google.co.in/ or https://www.google.com/ as the case may be.
2. In the search bar type site colon website name without prefixing www or http give a space and then type the desired key pharse.
For example to search the key phrase “scrutiny guidelines” in the website www.abcaus.in write as under:
site:abcaus.in scrutiny guidelines
This gives you 175 results
or you can also narrow the search by the exact phrase (verbatim) as
site:abcaus.in “scrutiny guidelines”
It gives you 13 results
3. You can also search the website to show the key phrase only in the posts which have been publish within a given time range, say 1 week, 2 months, one year etc.
After the second step as above, click on tools
From the sub options choose the desired period or give a custom range.
4. If you want to exclude a particular word from the search add it in the last with a minus sign
For example, in the example above if you do not want to see the results with the word “CBDT”, write
site:abcaus.in scrutiny guidelines –cbdt
It gives you 71 results
