Passport Rules Amendment-Proof of Present Address. List of New documents now permitted for Government employees

NOTIFICATION

New Delhi, the 30th October, 2017

G.S.R. 1366(E).––In exercise of the powers conferred by section 24 of the Passports Act, 1967 (15 of 1967), the Central Government, hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Passports Rules, 1980, namely:––

1. (1) These rules may be called the Passports (Amendment) Rules, 2017.
(2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.

2. In the Passports Rules, 1980, in Schedule III, in Part I,––

(a) in section IV, in paragraph (A) relating to “Passports”, in sub-paragraph (1), in item (a) relating to “Proof of address (attach one of the following)’’, for the words “parent’s passport copy in case of minors”, the words “parent’s passport copy in case of minors, allotment letter of the Government accommodation issued by the Estate Office/Public Works Department of the Central/State Government in respect of their employees, duly certified/attested extract of the service record/book of the Government employees (serving/retired) or the bonafide certificate issued by the employer in respect of serving Government employees, Proof of Address issued by the India Post, Department of Posts” shall be substituted;

(b) in Schedule V, in Table 3 relating to “Overall List of Documents”, under Document No.1 and the entries relating thereto, after the existing entries, the following entries shall be inserted, namely:–

1 Proof of Present Address: For proof of Address attach one of the following documents
“e.  Allotment letter of the Government accommodation issued by the Estate Office/Public Works Department of the Central/State Government in respect of their employees.
f. duly certified/attested extract of the service record/book of the Government employees (serving/retired) or the bonafide certificate issued by the employer in respect of servings Government employees
g. Proof of Address (POA) issued by the India Post, Department of Posts”

Foot Note : The Passports Rules, 1980 were published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (i), vide Notification Number G.S.R. 691 (E), dated 11th December, 1980 and last amended vide Notification Number G.S.R. 1215(E), dated 03/10/2017.
