Income Tax E-filing Forgotten Password Resetting, Recovery- Direct access by using Net Banking

Income Tax Department has come up with yet another facility for direct access and login to user account at Income Tax Department e-Filing website. This could be a very much needed relief for those who might have forgotten password and trying unsuccessfully other ways of resetting or recovering the password. Also this is the safest and secured way of getting access of the income tax e-filing account in case of a forgotten password. The user can, after getting access through this facility, change password through Profile Settings>Change Password. However this facility shall be available only;
(a) through the net banking accounts of those banks which has already registered for this facility with the Income Tax Department.
(b) the assessee has provided details of his/her PAN to the concerned bank

Currently the facility of direct login through net banking is available through the following banks:
1. Corporation Bank Retail Banking:  >>

6. Kotak Mahindra Bank >>
7. Punjab National Bank >>

The steps involve d are as under:
1.       Go to the Internet or Net Banking website of the Bank (Currently only three banks as above)
2.       Login to Net Banking account with net banking user ID and password
3.       After Login as above, select “Income Tax e-Filing Login” tab/menu item
4.       Select the account number and enter the PAN for verification and click Submit
5.       Accept  the Rules and Regulations details as and where required
6.       User shall be logged out of internet banking account and shall automatically be logged in to/allowed access to his/her
      Income Tax E-filing Account and redirected to his Income Tax Department e-Filing account - Home page.
7.       User should reset his password from Profile Settings>Change Password.

Illustrative steps using example of Corporation Bank Net Banking
Go to  https://www.corpretail.com/RetailBank/ 
Login in to your Corporation Bank Net banking account using Bank’s User ID and password
Select Utility Payments > Select “Income Tax e-Filing Login”

Select Account Number (IFSC Code)  from the drop down
Enter PAN
Accept  the Terms & Conditions-Check the box
Click on Submit
Click  OK to get re-directed and automatically logged into Income tax Department e-Filing account Dashboard
User should reset his password from Profile Settings>Change Password.
