Gujarat High Court directs CBDT to extend the due date for ITR filing AY 2014-15 to 30-11-2014 for Tax Audit Cases

It is learnt that the Gujarat HC has directed CBDT to extend returns filing deadline to 30-11-2014 . However Section 234A interest shall have to be paid for the period from 01-10-2014. The direction was pronounced on 22-09-2014 few minutes ago.The order has been delivered on Special Civil Application (SCA) filed by All Gujarat Federation of Tax Consultant and CA Rajni Shah (12571/2014) which was due for judgement today. .

CBDT had opposed the extension on the ground that if the extension is given, would cause delay in payment of taxes by taxpayers which would be prejudicial to the interest of the revenue. It had also given assurance that changes/revision in ITRs made due to Tax Audits, would not attract penalty or interest.
