Relaxation given in qualifications for appointment as notary to person with disability practicing for at least seven years as a legal practitioner

NOTIFICATION

New Delhi, the 25th May, 2021

G.S.R.341(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by section 15 of the Notaries Act, 1952 (53 of 1952), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Notaries Rules, 1956, namely :—

1. (1) These rules may be called the Notaries (Amendment) Rules, 2021.

(2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.

2. In the Notaries Rules, 1956, in Rule 3, after clause (ab), the following clause shall be inserted, namely-

“(ac) a person with benchmark disability as defined in Clause (r) of Section 2 of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016(49 of 2016),who has been practicing for at least seven years, as a legal practitioner.”

Note: The principal rules were published in the Gazette of India, Part Il, Section 3, Sub-section (i), vide number S.R.O. 324, dated the 14thFebruary, 1956 and was last amended vide notification number G.S.R. 821 (E), dated the 5th November, 2019.
