If you have incorporated a new company or have been appointed a new director then in all probabilities you might receive a VP Parcel (VPP) at the address mentioned in the e-forms filed with Registrar of Companies.

First, the timing of this VPP is within one to two weeks so that the gullible recipient more often than not mistakes it as some important documents from some authority and feel under some obligation to pay for it. Secondly the VPP is generally for an amount not exceeding Rs. 500/- so that the recipient is not strained much and might pay out of curiosity and confusion. This practice is in vogue since a long time and no doubt, some active role of the Staff at RoC office can-not be ruled out.

The typical VPP packet sent to a newly appointed director, on the face of it contains a list of contents as under:
·          DIN Director Identification Number Procedure and Importance
·          Companies Act, 2013 an Overview
·          A Comprehensive package
      The Director (Study Material)
·          A Background Compact Disk (CD) on Legal Framework
·          Statutory Compliances, Forms, Formats, Trade Mark Registration & other Procedures (Company and LLP)

Below the content list, in smaller fonts the following is mentioned:
* Acceptance of this parcel is your discretion.

The sender of the parcel as mentioned is:
The Director, Corporate Legal Forum, Post Box No. 32, Mundakayam, PIN-686513

So next time anyone receive a parcel like above, be careful and make an informed decision while choosing to pay for it.
