Sir,
It has been reported from four field offices that some of their thin clients displayed Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) or Black Screen problems. The error messages does not clearly states what is wrong and strike at random. The Thin Clients need to the diagnosed with the help of OEM Vendor I Warranty I AMC service provider to fix the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) on Windows Systems whether it is due to Hardware (RAM, Hard Disk, Temperature etc.,) or connected with virus infected devices in the existing Network or the systems are exposed to internet without adequate security/protection without Virus scanners.
2. The Regional PF Commissioners/OIC of the Region(s) are advised to ensure the following instructions strictly adhered to overcome the BSOD problems :
(a) The four offices who reported the Blue Screen of Death I Black Screen problems are directed to reload the Operating System of the BSOD affected thin clients with the help of OEM Vendor/AMC/Warranty Service.
(b) Since the Mircosoft Corporation stopped the support of Windows XP,the thin clients pre-installed with Windows XP embedded Operating System must be upgraded to Windows 7 embedded version subject to availability of RAM and Flash memory.
(c) All the offices shall follow that no thin client which are connected to the EPFO application through MPLS connection should be connected with Internet.
(d) The Thin Client/PC/Laptop which is connected in the MPLS connection should not be exposed in the internet either through LAN or through Wi-FI connection.
(e) The PC connected with Internet Connection must be pre-installed with Virus Scanner (Total Security) from McAffee or Symantec or Quick Heal or Trend Mircro ,) and scanned periodically.
(f) The PC/Thin Client/Laptop connected with Internet connection should not be connected with MPLS/ Application software simultaneously. Care should be taken particularly in Compliance, Cash sections and PCs placed with OIC/RC(FA) wherein PCs are used for online activities and also application software.
(g) The Virus/Malware injection are due to connection with infected systems, exposed to internet and use of virus infected USB According ly, the USB Devices must be disabled in the Thin Clients to avoid any virus infection in future .
(h) Please reboot the Thin Clients before and after changing any configuration.
(i) In future, any office is facing BSOD/Black Screen problem, please follow the instruction mentioned in (a) & (b).
