FTP 2023 amended to allow One Star Export House status to applicants (other than for Gems & Jewelry Sector) based on export performance in any two out of the three preceding financial years
The Foreign Trade Policy, 2023 provides for grant of Status Holder Certificate in order to recognize an exporter firms as business leaders who have excelled in international trade and have successfully contributed to country’s foreign trade. Status Holders are expected to not only contribute towards India’s exports but also provide guidance and handholding to new entrepreneurs.
Status Holder Categories are as under:

The appropriate status is granted on achieving the threshold export performance in the current and preceding three financial years. For granting status, an export performance is necessary in all the three preceding financial years (and in all the two preceding financial years for Gems & Jewelry Sector).
Privileges granted to a Status Holder ranges from Customs Clearances on self-declaration basis, early fixation of Input-Output norms, exemption from furnishing of Bank Guarantee, exemption from compulsory negotiation of documents through banks, Two star and above Export houses are permitted to establish Export Warehouses, preferential treatment and priority in handling of consignments, export on free of cost basis for export promotion etc.
The existing policy requires that for granting a status, an export performance would be necessary in all the three preceding financial years (and in all the two preceding financial years for Gems & Jewelry Sector).
The DGFT vide Notification No. S.O. 4617(E) dated 21.08.2026 has notified amendment in Para 1.25 of the Foreign Trade Policy, 2023 to allow granting of One Star Export House status to applicants (other than for Gems & Jewelry Sector) who possess export performance in any two out of the three preceding financial years subject to other provisions of FTP 2023.
