DG GST-I Chennai denies search of Tamil Nadu Film Producers Council Presiedent’s Premises. The press Statement says such news are false
Tamilnadu has been in news over opposition to GST. Recently the Tamil Nadu unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party made a lot of hue and cry over a Tamil movie “Mersal” for mocking GST and digital India. Earlier the Theatre and cinema owners went on an indefinite strike against the GST imposed. The Tamil Nadu Film Producers Council in early October had announced that no new Tamil films will be released until the state government removes the additional 10 per cent tax over and above the GST.
Amidst the above, the Director general of Goods and Service Tax (Intelligence), Chennai has issued a press statement denying the news circulated by few news channel that the premises of Shri Vishal, President of the Tamil Nadu Film Producers Council has been searched.
According to the Press Statement, the officers of DGGSTI have not conducted any search operations and the news which is being circulated is factually incorrect and false.
