ICAI cancelled membership of 6834 chartered accountants for non payment of fee
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) removed approx. 7 thousand (6926) chartered accountants from the Register of Members
Section 20 in the Chartered Accountants Act, 1949 provides for Removal of name of a CA from the Membership Register on account of death, request received from member non payment of fee.
Out of the total 6926 name removed of 6834 chartered accountants have been removed on account of non-payment of prescribed fees with effect from 01/01/2021. However name of 6682 members have been restored. As per Chartered Accountants Regulation 1988, the ICAI may restore a name on payment of arrears of fee.
Out of the total 6926 name of 9 chartered accountants have been removed on at their request.
Out of the total 6926 name of 83 chartered accountants have been removed on account of their death.
Further, the Certificate of Practice (CoP) issued to 106 Chartered Accountants have been cancelled for non payment of their annual fees for Certificate of Practice. Also Certificate of Practice of 731 CAs have been cancelled on their request.
