Eradicating hunger poverty & health care tops the CSR activities by Corporate Houses during FY 2014-15

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) provision of the Companies Act, 2013 came into force from 1st April, 2014. The year 2014-15 was the first year of implementation of CSR by companies under the legislation. During this year, a total of 460 listed companies which have placed annual CSR returns on their websites, have spent about Rs. 6337 crores on CSR, as summarised below:

This was stated by Shri Arun Jaitley, Minister of Corporate Affairs in written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha today.Â

- Deduction u/s 80-IA(7) not allowed for delayed filing of audit report in Form 10CCB
- Is CSR expenditure is allowable under section 80G of Income Tax Act – ITAT says “Yes”
- Territorial jurisdiction of ITAT is determined on the basis of situs of Assessing Officer
- Notice u/s 148 set-aside as assessee’s e-mail was inactive and notices went un-noticed
- AO after dropping an issue for lack of evidence may re-open it on gathering information
